Our commitment
Iron County wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, magnification, voice control, keyboard-only navigation, or who have low vision, hearing loss, or difficulty reading.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 at Level AA. This is the standard most widely used to judge whether a website works for people with disabilities. We treat it as an ongoing commitment rather than a finished task — parts of this site meet it today, and we are still working on others, which we list honestly below.
Get help or ask for another format
If any page or document on this site is difficult for you to use, please tell us. We will help you get the information you need, and we will not ask you to explain your disability.
We can provide documents in large print, plain text, or another format that works for you, or read the contents to you over the phone. There is no charge for this.

Reporting a problem with this site
If you find a page you cannot use, contact us using any of the methods above. It helps if you can tell us:
- The address of the page, or the name of the office it belongs to
- What you were trying to do
- What went wrong, and what device, browser, or assistive technology you were using
We will acknowledge your report, tell you what we plan to do, and give you the information you were looking for in a format you can use while any fix is being made.
What we know is not accessible yet
We would rather tell you about these than let you discover them:
- Some PDF documents are scans. A number of older documents on this site — including several sets of election results and the 2026 budget — were produced by scanning paper. A scan is a picture of a page, so a screen reader cannot read it aloud and the text cannot be searched or enlarged cleanly. If you need any of these, contact us and we will provide the information in a format you can use. We are working on replacing them.
- Some other PDFs are readable but not fully tagged. Their text can be read aloud, but the headings and tables may not be announced in a helpful order.
- Parcel and mapping information is provided through an outside service at semogis.com, which we do not control. If you have trouble using it, contact the Assessor’s office and staff will look up parcel information for you directly.
What we have done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, without a mouse
- The item you have moved to with the keyboard is always clearly outlined
- A “skip to main content” link lets you jump past the menu
- Text and background colors were checked against the WCAG contrast requirements
- Pages work when text is enlarged, and reflow to a single column on small screens without sideways scrolling
- Meaningful images have text descriptions; decorative ones are hidden from screen readers
- Form fields have visible labels, and errors are described in words rather than by color alone
- Information is never conveyed by color alone
- Nothing moves, flashes, or plays on its own, and animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for that
How this site was tested
This site was checked using both automated tools and manual testing by a person. Manual testing covered keyboard-only navigation, the order that items receive focus, page magnification and reflow down to a 320-pixel-wide screen, and how pages are announced by a screen reader. Automated tools alone cannot confirm a site is accessible, so we do not rely on them by themselves.
